All #HappyEndingTails are worth celebrating—but All #HappyEndingTails are worth celebrating—but this one might bring a tear to your eye. 😢💗⁠ ⁠ When Rey first arrived at Tree House, she was incredibly shy. She went to a quiet foster home, where she met fellow Tree House cat Khloe Coulee. The two were placed together so that Khloe—friendly and confident—could help Rey learn that people could be kind. Both had weakened immune systems due to feline leukemia virus (FeLV), and they lived without other feline companions. They quickly became like sisters. 👯‍♀️⁠ ⁠ Tragically, before they could be adopted together, Khloe Coulee crossed the rainbow bridge. As Rey mourned the loss of her friend, she sought companionship from her foster. We know she was waiting for someone to help her heal. 💔⁠ ⁠ Some time later, Bia was looking for a companion for her FeLV+ cat, Bella, after her other cat passed away. She spotted Rey’s profile on our website and felt an instant connection. Life had a few things in store first, so Bia waited until the time was right—and when it finally was, Rey was still waiting. Maybe this was the match that was meant to be all along. 🕰️⁠ ⁠ Now, Rey has blossomed—from a timid cat who knew loss to a confident cat with a new feline sister and a person who adores her. Thank you to everyone who had a hand (or a paw) in her Happy Ending Tail.
To adopt a cat with feline leukemia virus (FeLV+) To adopt a cat with feline leukemia virus (FeLV+) is to love all cats—no matter how long they stay. 🐈️💕⁠ ⁠ When Bia came to Tree House in 2016 looking to foster, she was introduced to our FeLV+ program. She learned that while feline leukemia weakens the immune system and can shorten a cat’s lifespan, these cats can still live many vibrant, healthy, love-filled years after diagnosis.⁠ ⁠ That same day, Bia met Hailey, a FeLV+ cat—and adopted her on the spot. 🐾⁠ ⁠ It didn’t stop there. Wanting Hailey to have a friend, Bia later adopted Lilah from Tree House, another FeLV+ cat. And when Hailey eventually crossed the rainbow bridge, Bia opened her heart to even more: Mattias, and Tree House residents Bella, and Rey. 🏡⁠ ⁠ Caring for FeLV+ cats, Bia shared, “is just like caring for any other cat—until they get sick. The things that usually happen to a cat when they’re 15 might happen when they’re 7.”*⁠ ⁠ Three of Bia’s FeLV+ cats passed away at 6, 8, and 11 years old. 🌈 She admits, “It’s not easy. In less than 10 years, I lost three cats, and I’m crying now just thinking about it. But an even worse thought is imagining the last 10 years without them.” 💔⁠ ⁠ People like Bia are champions of the heart. Because of adopters like her, our FeLV+ cats don’t just survive—they explore, play, cuddle, and thrive in loving homes.⁠ ⁠ *Life expectancy for FeLV+ cats varies and is difficult to predict.

At just under three weeks old, he had a swollen jaw—and when our vet team shaved and cleaned the area, they found the culprit: a botfly larva lodged in his cheek. 😳⁠ ⁠ Botflies lay eggs on animals, and the larvae can burrow into the skin, causing pain and infection. Thankfully, #TeamTreeHouse stepped in just in time—and honestly, they were weirdly excited to do it. (Just look at Dr. Foose’s face!)⁠ ⁠ PlayStation is now healing in foster care with his video game console crew—and on his way to a healthy, happy life. 🎮💚

Nope, your eyes aren’t playing tricks on you—t Nope, your eyes aren’t playing tricks on you—there is something going on with these cuties’ eyes. 👀⁠ ⁠ Meet the Bug Litter: June Bug, Beetle Bug, Lady Bug, and Dragonfly. Found as strays in Garfield Park with severe eye infections, these kittens were rescued by our foster volunteer Lora—who didn’t hesitate to bring them home for some much-needed TLC. 🥰⁠ ⁠ That’s the beauty of our foster network: they don’t just open their homes—they advocate for cats wherever they are, from sidewalks to sofa cushions. 🌳🏠️⁠ ⁠ With dedicated care, our four little bugs are already showing signs of improvement. Some may need enucleation surgery (the removal of one or both eyes), which means they’ll have limited or no vision—but it won’t stop them from living full, joyful lives and finding their #HappyEndingTails when they’re ready for adoption. ✔️⁠ ⁠ Want to be part of the team that makes stories like this possible? Umami really is the fifth taste of happiness! This Umami really is the fifth taste of happiness! This Tree House cat left her shy girl era behind and is living her best Happy Ending Tail life. 😜⁠ ⁠ When she came to us in March from Naples, Florida, Umami was tiny, mighty, and a bit unsure of the world. But after landing in her new home, she’s been soaking up the love, and it’s been a pure glow-up ever since! ✨️⁠ ⁠ Umami was steadily learning to trust people and make feline friends, but everything changed when she met Skunky. Now, they’re basically inseparable and spend their time together syncing up for couch naps, dining side by side, and lounging in the cat tree.🐈‍⬛🌸⁠ ⁠ Watching Umami blossom has been the absolute sweetest transformation! Each day she gets a little braver, with Skunky by her side cheering her on (and maybe slipping her a treat or two). Her new family says she’s the happiest cat, and it’s easy to see why!
Because of you, we get to save kitties like Shores Because of you, we get to save kitties like Shoresy—tiny fighters with rough beginnings and big hopes for a Happy Ending Tail. 💚⁠ ⁠ Shoresy was found in a back alley by Justina, one of our incredible fosters and occasional relief vet tech at our Veterinary Wellness Center. This brave ginger kitten came in with a fractured leg and pelvis, plus a painful open wound near his hip. Ouch is an understatement!⁠ ⁠ He’s now splinted, wrapped up, and healing with daily bandage changes (and a little help from manuka honey magic 🍯). While we continue to monitor his pelvic injury, Shoresy is safe, cared for, and surrounded by love.⁠ ⁠ We couldn’t do this without you.
